Google joins Band of Angels, is set to lead angel investing scenario in India
Google has joined as one of the institutional members of Band of Angels reports Business Standard. Band of Angels (link here), which was started in April 2006, is a unique concept which brings together highly successful entrepreneurs and CEOs from India and around the world who are interested in investing in start up / early stage ventures. Now Google has joined hands with Band of Angels in India.
Google which is in the spree of acquiring much mature companies in the US is taking a different route in India. It’s taking the angel investing route to tap into the top ideas and talent pool. Earlier to this, Google has invested in 3 Venture Capital funds Ventureast Tenet Fund II, Erasmic Venture Fund and Seedfund (read my previous post about it here)
All of Google’s investments so far are in early stage funds. And by joining Band of Angels it’s clear that Google is really hungry for early stage deals in India.
