How I did my first Podcast?
I did my first podcast ever last week end. I have heard of podcasting, what it is and I’m also a subscriber for various podcast of my interest through iTunes, however I have not done one by myself until last weekend. I thought of writing my experience and tools that I used to benefit others.
Before I start, here is the link (click here) of my first podcasting. It’s an interview with the founder, Mr Chitravina Ravikiran of Shakti Extratainment. Believe me, I was bit nervous and I don’t know how to start, how to introduce myself and how to introduce the participant. I just went through some of the podcast that I listen and noted down the phrases and words they use to introduce themselves and participants. Anyway I prepared myself with questions to ask and introductory phrases, etc.
Let’s jump into the tools that I used. I’m not going to elaborate on various tools that are available, I’m going to brief on the ones that I used. In my case the participant is in a different location and I could reach him through his mobile phone.
- I used Skype.com and called the mobile phone to start my interview. The reason I used Skype is there are lot of plug-in available to record Skype calls.
- CallBurner.com, an excellent tool to record Skype calls. I used the trial version and recorded the entire call.
- Now I need to edit the recording to remove the initial greeting, etc. I used MP3 WAV Editor (mp3waveditor.com) to split mp3 files and to join them. An excellent tool for splitting and joining mp3 files
- Once the mp3 file is ready, now I need a podcasting server. After several research I found PodBean.com. Free service available at PodBean for podcasting. They also provide a widget for your blog. Your readers need not have to go to a different site. They could listen to the Podcast right at your blog. If you enroll in one of the premium plan, you would get the statistics of your podcasting.
If you have used any other good tools, please feel free to share them by adding your comments.
