Surf the web in Hindi

I just came across a browser, Pragati, for browsing in Hindi. Pragati is based on the reliable Firefox Browser and is enhanced with features to assist the native hindi user to surf the web. Here are the cool features of the browser

  • has an inline English-Hindi dictionary support
  • completely localized hindi interface
  • Can be completely operated by TouchScreen

I believe the concept is really good. Once broadband goes mainstream in India, there will lot more non english speaking population utilizing the web. And Pragati definitely will have a key role to play. I would also be glad to see other Indian languages based browser like for Tamil, Telugu, Kanada, Malayalam, etc.

Look at the screen shot. WOW! it’s very cool. You could see for yourself that it provides a list of possible Hindi words that apply to an English word. The menus are also in Hindi. You must definitely try it, atleast for the fun of it.
